The modern world is a world of plenty. So much so it can overwhelm our senses and our body’s natural ability to regulate our eating. This workshop begins with a discussion of social and cultural forces that contribute to our weight gain along with practical strategies to face these everyday pressures, without dieting. The second half is focused on activities that build mindful eating skills, which help returning our attention to the act of eating and enjoyment of the texture, taste, and sensation of food. It is not about getting to the root of a problem. It is about making peace with yourself and your body and learning to be present in a non judgmental way. Because our own experience with food is far richer than what is mass-produced in chain restaurants.
